Launching the journey to autonomous supply chain planning

In this piece McKinsey considers autonomy for the supply chain in the broader context of decision making, which my be confusing in the beginning. Eventually it makes sense as the main focus is on the planning. The conclusions are relevant and advocated by Marine Startups in several occasions:

  1. JIT data must be readily available and promptly evaluated at a high level in order to take decisions quickly. The data must be there and the team must be senior.
  2. Considering the level of uncertainty, scenario planning is the only way to go forward.

Technology enables both points but there is still a long way to go both in the culture of corporates and the offerings from the market. This is an area with plenty of opportunities.
